Marcus is more than just an average drummer. Words used to describe Lil Marcus: Smooth, Beast, Monster, Musical Drummer. Marcus also plays Percussion and Trumpet. Marcus is the founder, leader, musical director and drummer of The Found Band in his hometown of Dallas Texas. If asked, “Who Marcus Jones sounds like in a list of established musicians, his style and technique are similar to George ”Spanky” McGurdy, Cleon Edwards, Aaron Spears, Tony Williams, Dennis Chambers, Billy Cobham, Robert “Sput” Searight, Chris Dave to name a few.” Style and genre of music: Jazz, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Pop, Reggae, Gospel, Country, India, Rock, Experimental Music and Funk. Just a quick reference in to the life of professional drummer Marcus Jones. Marcus has played with The Found, Curren$y, RC & The Gritz, Chris Dave, Daniel Jones, Mike Mitchell & Rache’, Funky Knuckles, Cleon Edwards & Hungry Jaxx, Deaf2Radio, and Medicine Man Revival. Marcus has also performed with RZA, Erykah Badu, Eric McFadden, Eric Roberson, Avery Sunshine, Sy Smith, Dwele and Algebra Blessett. Marcus continues to study all genres of music, drum techniques and has now included producing and arranging to his repertoire. With a hunger and desire to expand on his style and performances, Marcus Jones aka Lil Marcus has become a brand and a musical drumming force to be reckoned with.

Glenn Rexach – Guitar Ben Irom – Piano Billy Satterwhite – Bass Mike Gordon – Drums Glenn Rexach, long a fixture on the Austin music scene, has been a first call guitarist for decades. His group, the Glenn Rexach Group, which features Rexach’s intricate compositions. has opened for guitarist Scott Henderson, drum legend Billy Cobham, and has performed at the JazzAlive Jazz Festival, the Wobeon Jazz Fusion Festival, the Jazz on Main Festival, and various venues throughout Texas. He is also the guitarist for the Jacqui Walker Band (blues), Darrell Goldman (country), the Austin Jazz Workshop, Jazz PR (Salsa), countless freelance gigs, and is on the praise and worship team at Bethany Lutheran Church. His performing credits include: jazz sax great Eddie Harris, Eddie Palmieri, Buddy Emmons, the Creative Opportunity Jazz Orchestra, Malford Milligan, Brannen Temple’s Atomic Soul, Just Released, Helen Sung, Jr. Medlow and the Bad Boys, Eliza Gilkyson, Nestor Torres, Dr. James Polk, Tony Campise, Hank Hehmsoth, violin and oud virtuoso Simon Shaheen, La Tribu, Ta Mere, Orchestra Tropicana, Jazz P.R., the Samba Police, Strings Attached, Gary Clark Jr., Carolyn Wonderland, and many others. He currently has 3 recordings under his own name, RoundTrip (out of print), Living Joe to Joe, and the group’s most recent release, PanaRican (a tribute to his Puerto Rican and Panamanian heritage). Mitch Watkins – Guitar Joao De Carmago – Piano John Fremgen – Bass Masumi Jones – Drums Enthusiastic accolades have followed Sarah Sharp through her career including multiple awards for her singing and songwriting. The self-produced album “Phoebe’s Dream,” with then-band Jitterbug Vipers, earned Sharp Top 5 placements in Austin Music Awards categories for Best Female Vocalist, Producer, Songwriter, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Band of the Year, and Best Jazz Band. Sarah also was a (two times, once with Jitterbug Vipers, and once as Sarah) top recipient of the Black Fret Award (now Sonic Guild) from the organization supporting “the creation and performance of extraordinary new music.”“It’s so clear that the music you create is so inspired by your environment,” says NPRs Michael Feinstein. Of her song “Trouble,” Feinstein adds, “That is the kind of song that has such a classic quality to it and it’s a song that could have been written a long time ago, and yet it speaks so much to the world now, and I think it will speak to people whenever it’s heard.”

Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for the Laura Anglade/Ben Rosemblum Quartet! Laura Anglade - Vocals Ben Rosenblum - Piano/Accordion Daniel Duke - Bass Ben Zweig - Drums About Laura Anglade: French/American singer Laura Anglade is reminiscent of many of the great traditional vocal stylists of the 20th century, but her voice is uniquely her own. As she digs emotionally and eloquently into a lyric, her story-telling abilities portray a soul beyond her years. Her debut release, ‘I’ve Got Just About Everything’ (Justin Time Records, 2019) saw the vocalist, along with her quintet, fearlessly plunging headlong into a wide range of material drawn from both the Broadway stage as well as the Great American Songbook. On her Juno-nominated sophomore recording, ‘Venez Donc Chez Moi’ (Justin Time Records, 2022), Laura teams up with Montreal guitarist Sam Kirmayer and New York based accordionist Benjamin Rosenblum on two tracks. It is an homage of sorts; a nod to Laura’s beloved France. The record features French classics made famous by Barbara, Charles Trenet, Edith Piaf, and Michel Legrand to name a few. Laura leads an active international touring schedule and has performed at venues including Olympia (Paris), Royal Festival Hall (London), Town Hall (New York City), the Ace Theatre Hotel (Los Angeles), and the main stage at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. She opened for Gregory Porter at the Victoria Jazz Festival (summer 2022), and Melody Gardot (fall 2022), joining her across the east and west coasts of the US and Europe. She is currently based in Toronto. About Ben Rosenblum: Award-winning New York City jazz pianist and accordionist Ben Rosenblum has been described as “mature beyond his years,” (Sea of Tranquility), an “impressive talent” (All About Jazz), who “caresses [the music] with the reverence it merits” (Downbeat Magazine). Since the release of his debut trio album, Instead (4 stars, Downbeat), Rosenblum has toured extensively with his trio and sextet throughout the United States, including multiple trips to the Northeast, Midwest, South and West Coast, as well as internationally in Canada, Europe and Japan. He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall's Stern-Perelman Auditorium – with Reona Ito's New York Harmonic Band – and has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the world, including at the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Ravinia, Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama, Bird's Eye in Basel and the Library of Congress. Rosenblum's second trio album in 2018, River City, was called “richly romantic” and “well-realized” by JAZZIZ Magazine, which featured the title track as part of their Best of Fall 2018 CD. Rosenblum released his third album, Kites and Strings, in 2020, which is the first to feature him on both piano and accordion alongside his new sextet, the Nebula Project. In 2020, the Nebula Project was voted runner-up for Best New Artist in JazzTimes' Readers' Poll. After the Nebula Project's follow-up album in 2023, A Thousand Pebbles, Rosenblum was featured in an article in Downbeat Magazine's May 2023 issue. Rosenblum has been privileged to share the stage with many highly acclaimed jazz musicians, including extensive work with Curtis Lundy, Winard Harper, Deborah Davis and Chris Washburne, as well as appearances with Bobby Watson, Sean Jones, TS Monk, Warren Wolf, Eliot Zigmund, and many others. Rosenblum's musical interests also extend beyond jazz to include work in numerous world music scenes, including musical styles from Brazil, Peru, Croatia, Bulgaria, India, Ireland, Jewish traditions and more.

Personnel TBA Hailed as a "Sax Phenom" by the New York Daily News, Chad LB is a featured artist on 2 GRAMMY winning albums, and has toured through 6 continents playing venues from Carnegie Hall to the Super Bowl. As a bandleader, he’s headlined jazz venues and festivals around the world, and as a soloist he’s joined acts like Chris Botti, Arturo Sandoval, and Christian McBride. No stranger to the big screen, Chad has been featured on numerous TV shows with pop icons like Taylor Swift, rock legends like Don Henley, as well as the Hollywood film, “Here Today” with Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish. A native of Elmira, New York, Chad established himself as a jazz prodigy at age 11, performing throughout New York State under the mentorship of local jazz hero, George Reed, who was known for backing legends like Teddy Wilson, Buddy Tate, and Marian McPartland. Chad went on to pursue a formal education in the arts at the Brubeck Institute, a prestigious fellowship program created by jazz legend Dave Brubeck. While studying at the institute, he performed regularly with Brubeck and was a member of the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet. Chad received many accolades during his scholastic career, including 15 DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards for categories such as "Best Jazz Soloist" and "Best Original Song." His debut album, Imagery Manifesto, was named “Debut Album of the Year” by jazz critic and author, Doug Ramsey, and two of his most recent recordings as a leader, “Onward,” and "Live at The Bridge" feature jazz legend, Randy Brecker, with whom he has toured and headlined jazz festivals throughout the United States and Europe.

Demetreis Thornton – Bass Trombone Jakob Hartz – Piano Aidan Berg – Double Bass Matias Soto – Drums Hailing from El Paso, apart of a class of young musicians ready to make their mark on ATX, comes Demetreis Thornton. He has cemented his unique place as an improvisational jazz bass trombonist, going far beyond the instrument’s commonplace role as “trombone 4”. Drawing upon sounds reminiscent of JJ Johnson, Curtis Fuller, Steve Davis, Bennie Green, and Slide Hampton, he has performed alongside national and local luminaries including Andre Hayward, Brad Goode, Quincy Davis, Gary Smulyan, Nat Reeves, Graham Reynolds, and Brad Leali. Mentored by national and local talent Andre Hayward and Paul Deemer since moving to Austin in 2023, Demetreis is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. In 3 short years he has hit the ground running and can be seen composing, arranging, educating, and playing with groups of all shapes and sizes in the Central Texas area. In big and small groups alike, Demetreis upholds the music above all else, and is a familiar sight (and sound!) in all of Austin’s adored music venues.

Join us for a live taping and listening-room concert for the Rachel Spencer Quintet! Personnel TBA Austin-based trumpeter Rachel Spencer is known for her expressive tone, stylistic agility, and authentic presence as both bandleader and side musician. She performs regularly in a wide variety of settings in central Texas, and has toured nationally and internationally, most recently holding the lead trumpet chair on the North American Broadway tour of The Addams Family: A Musical Comedy. Her compositional and playing style is a blend of modern groove and post bop tradition, taking inspiration from luminaries such as Blue Mitchell, Kenny Garrett, and Roy Hargrove, her playing being described as soulful and thoughtful. In addition to performing, Rachel maintains in demand as an educator with a robust private studio and masterclasss schedule, as well as directing local jazz ensembles. Her debut release as a leader “The Next Right Thing” is pending release in early 2027. In 2025, she was awarded the Presser Foundation Award, funding her debut recording, The Next Right Thing, which is pending release.

Join us to honor the timeless legacies of iconic master saxophonists, John Coltrane & Jimmy Heath. Two distinct strands in the threads of modern music – John Coltrane, a spiritual sonic explorer redefining the genre and horn; and Jimmy Heath, dubbed “Little Bird” a composer and bebop master and mentor – we elevate the giants who lend shoulders to our forward creative future. Heath, also an arranger/composer, NEA Jazz Master, was born in Philadelphia of the Heath family (with Tootie & Percy). He and his brother joined Howard McGhee in 1947 then Dizzy Gillespie, before he switched to tenor and found his sound with Clifford Brown & J.J. Johnson. He wrote for Chet Baker, Art Blakey; worked with Miles Davis, Benny Golson, Kenny Dorham (of Austin), Gil Evans, Art Farmer, and others. He was a presence in the community, and mentored many, including Sam. He was all about the music. “I’m going to do this until I leave, this is all I love.” – Jimmy Heath Coltrane was a legend and force of the tenor saxophone, cementing a sound for generations. Coming from North Carolina, and spending time in Philadelphia and New York, his influence on jazz and saxophonists is unfathomable. He explored his powerful voice across spiritual, academic, and standard repertoire with iconic recordings such as A Love Supreme, Giant Steps, and My Favorite Things; in addition to appearing as a legendary sideman, e.g. Miles Davis Quintet. Sam Dillon - Tenor Saxophone Ross Margitza - Piano James Suter - Bass Daniel Dufour - Drums Native New Yorker, saxophonist, composer, and educator Sam Dillon has established himself among the most sought-after voices in contemporary jazz, bridging traditions between time-honored legends and new generations. Sam’s prolific credits includes over 50 studio recordings, taking him on tour nationally and internationally, as he’s become one of the in-demand musicians in NYC. He headlined the London Jazz Festival, and performs regularly with big bands including Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Mingus Big Band, 8-Bit Big Band, The Birdland Big Band, Steven Feifke, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Slide Hampton Octet, and has been spotted with Aubrey Logan. His most recent album “Trade Off” with Andrew Gould marks the premier collaboration between Pinch Records and La Reserve imprints. He can also be heard on Cellar Live Records (“My Ideal”), and as a sideman on multiple Grammy-winning (8-Bit Big Band: “Kirby Superstar”) and nominated (Mingus Big Band: Centennial Sessions) recordings. He is a graduate of SUNY Purchase, The Juilliard School, and was Director of the USDAN Summer Camp for the Arts, where he honed his solid accessible sense in balance with technical mastery. In 2013 Sam was selected as a semi-finalist of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. In his debut appearance as a leader at Monks, join us for a performance from one of the busiest musicians working today, as he shares original and standard repertoire in a high energy and hard-hitting performance. Mike Sailors – Trumpet Sam Dillon – Saxophone Joao Camargo – Piano Aidan Berg – Double Bass Gerry Gibbs – Drums Mike Sailors has performed around the world in venues such as the Blue Note (New York, Tokyo, and Sapporo locations), Ronnie Scott’s, Porgy and Bess, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, The Jazz Standard, Smalls Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center; and has appeared at the Montreal, Detroit, EFG London, and Tokyo Blue Note Jazz Festivals. He has also been an active musician in Broadway orchestras, most notably as the Music Director of Sleep No More. In addition to leading the Mike Sailors Nonet, once dubbed "an all-star outfit" by the New York Times, he has performed as a sideman with the Birdland Big Band, the Hot Sardines, the Gerald Wilson Orchestra, and The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. An active composer and arranger, Mike has written for such luminaries as Dewey Redman, Dick Oatts, Sean Jones, Jimmy Cobb, and Peter Bernstein. He has composed and recorded music for numerous commercial campaigns, as well as for TV and Film – most recently for the Netflix original series, Cannon Busters. Sailors is also a performing artist/educator with Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Let Freedom Swing educational program, is a copyist and editor for the Essentially Ellington jazz program, and currently serves as the Professor of Jazz Trumpet at University of Texas at Austin.

Juan Lara – Alto Saxophone Kevin Hrabak – Vocals João Camargo – Piano Miguel Rodriguez – Bass Matías Soto – Drums Originating from the great city of El Paso, TX — Juan Fabricio Lara is a member of an exciting generation of young musicians that have taken the central Texas music scene by storm. Lara is an alto/baritone saxophonist, composer, arranger, and educator based in the Austin area. Juan regularly collaborates with both established mentors of his scene as well as other young luminaries of the scene. Drawing inspiration from greats such as Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, Pepper Adams, Charles Mingus, and Duke Ellington, Juan values tradition above everything in his playing. Mentored by Andrew Gould and Steven Feifke, Lara has been band leading since he was 15 years old, and has shared the stage with names such as: Mike Sailors, Andre Hayward, Elias Haslinger, Kris Kimura, and Abel Mireles.

In September 2025, David started writing 50 new songs in 100 days, specifically for this show. This performance will feature the band’s selection of compositions from this new body of work.
